ACTFL - Director of Education and Certification

Salary: $158,000–$163,000/year (Full-Time, Salary Based on Experience)
About the Role
ACTFL is seeking a visionary Director of Education and Certification to lead national and global professional learning and credentialing initiatives in world language education. In this high-impact remote leadership role, you’ll guide strategy, innovate PD programming, and influence policy while managing a dynamic internal team and external facilitators. Must be Virginia-based or willing to work remotely from within the state.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic vision for ACTFL’s education and certification programming
Design and implement cutting-edge professional learning experiences (institutes, summits, town halls, courses, etc.)
Oversee educator credentialing aligned with ACTFL standards
Build partnerships with government, nonprofit, and educational institutions
Serve as liaison to ACTFL’s Board of Directors’ Professional Learning Committee
Supervise and develop staff and a national network of facilitators and raters
Ensure quality assurance across all program content and delivery
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or higher strongly preferred) in language education, applied linguistics, curriculum & instruction, or related field
10+ years of leadership in education (teaching, PD, curriculum, certification, or education policy)
Proven success managing teams, programs, and partnerships
Preferred:
Deep knowledge of language acquisition and educator development
Strong communication, strategy, and project management skills
Expertise in instructional design, certification, and professional learning
Policy influence and public speaking experience in education spaces
